Fury 03B wins Gold at District 7 (U19B) playdowns and earns birth to Provincials!!
Cloverdale Fury 03 posted a strong performance on the weekend beating out some stiff competition to win the Gold Medal at D7 District Playdowns. The team got off to a strong start in a nail biting pitchers duel with a 3-1 win over Fury 04. The team then lost 5-2 against Surrey Storm 03 resulting in another showdown with Fury 04 on Sunday morning. Fury 03 didn't let the rain delay dampen their spirits as their bats came on strong on Sunday. Fury 03 played some solid defence in the game with the outfield making some incredible catches to help minimize the effort of the pitching squad. The team posted 14 hits in the 10-4 win against Fury 04.
That set the stage for a rematch between long rivals Fury 03 and Storm 03. Fury 03's strong bats came right back in the first inning against Storm allowing them to plate 4 runs and setting a tone for the game. Storm managed to chip away with the score tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth. When Fury took their bats to start the 7th inning they were fired up and captured the lead by a score of 8-5. Fury played solid defence to finish off the game not allowing Storm to score another run and sealing the Gold Medal victory!
Fury 03 looks to continue it's strong play as they head into Canada Cup and then on to the Provincial Championships in Maple Ridge, July 8th-10.
